Working Fire Engine to go under the hammer at Cumbrian Architectural and Salvage Sale.
H&H Auction Rooms invites you to come along to their next Architectural Salvage and Garden Sale for all items curious and wonderful, perfect for being re-purposed for your home, garden or business. These sales are proving increasingly popular, mainly because of the unique and unexpected nature of what can be found there and are well worth a ‘mooch’.
The next sale being held on 22nd August will have many fascinating re-claimed items including a selection of stone troughs and a three-tier fountain from a locate estate and one lot bound to create a buzz is a real-life fire engine, ripe for conversion!
Stephen Farthing, Auctioneer and Valuer at H&H Auction Rooms, explained how the star of the show of this auction is extremely unique:
“We are excited to see how one of our lots goes – it is a working fire engine that has seen some real action and has been used for testing and research of fires, explosions and blasts! The emergency vehicle has been de-commissioned by local Spadeadam Testing and Research site and we have had a play and it’s great fun!
“There’s a current trend for the re-purposing of unusual items like this for personal and business-use. Last year we sold a 1960’s ice cream van that was turned into a prosecco bar and I can imagine the same fate for this fantastic machine, or it would be perfect as a charity show-stopper.
“Alternative uses would only be limited by the imagination It would make a quirky garden shed, original guest accommodation, a fun wedding or hen night transfer vehicle to name a few but whatever you have in mind it will certainly turn heads and create a real buzz on auction day.”
Another more traditional mode of transport up for grabs is a pony trap complete with a life-sized mannequin pony, both in good condition, which would make a great addition to a stables or stud.
H&H Auction Rooms has already added many other fascinating re-claimed stone items and other ‘gardenalia’ to their catalogue with so many potential uses. Always popular, these can inspire the owner to create stunning garden displays in the form of impressive planters or water features.

The sale is on 22nd August at 2pm at the Rosehill Auction Centre in Carlisle with doors opening at 11am for browsing.
