Items with origins from The Balmoral Estate, China, Germany and France will feature in the large collection of antiques, jewellery, porcelain, and fine furniture coming under the hammer in Swan and Turner’s summer sale. Part of Harrison and Hetherington, this Scottish Borders auction rooms are famous for their sales, and with over 700 Lots going under the hammer, this summer auction sale of antiques and collectables is already creating considerable interest. One of the more unusual items is Lot 637, a 19th Century Highland Cattle Horn Armchair, which is understood to have originated from the Balmoral Estate, and is estimated to achieve £300 - £500. The sale will be held at Swan and Turner’s sale rooms in Jedburgh on Saturday 16th July commencing at 10.00am, with viewings on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th July from 11.00.am, and on the morning of the sale. There are also over 120 Lots of jewellery, watches and silver, together with a large entry of period furniture including many Georgian and William IV pieces. One of the key pieces of furniture is a fine late 19th Century French Boulle Marquetry Library Desk and Bookcase En Suite, conservatively estimated at £800 - £1200. Another of the items, promising to pique the interest of bidders is a first edition, signed copy of Graham Greene’s ‘A Sort of Life,’ expected to sell for £300 - £500. - Lot 194, a 19th Century large Meissen Lidded Vase estimated at £1500 - £2500.
- Lot 36, an early 19th Century Galle Pottery cat is estimated at £1000 - £1500.
- Lot 64, a Chinese Carved Jade Dog of Foo with Pup, carries a pre-sale estimate of £400 - £600.
