Dory Rescue Boat Sold

22nd March 2016

H&H Auction Rooms  recently held their most successful specialist boat sale to date at their Carlisle base in Borderway.  The only specialist sale of its type in the North of England, it attracted over 130 enthusiasts some from as far away as Mid Scotland. Out of the 260 lots the top price on the day was achieved by a Dory rescue boat and engine which made £700, and was sold to a collector from Castle Douglas.  The expected star of the sale, the mahogany clinker built rowing boat, exceeded its estimate and sold to a local Carlisle resident for £600.  The clinker may soon be making a return to grace the waters of Windermere once again. Stephen Farthing, H&H Auction Room Manager, commenting on the sale said: “This is the best Boat Sale we’ve had here so far.  Over the four sales since its inception, the boat sale has continued to bring the buyers and sellers alike.  The renowned sale is now known within the boating and fishing industry as one not to miss, with some sellers bringing in excess of 100 lots to each sale.  This is absolutely fantastic for us and the industry as a whole.” Always a major draw is the plethora of fishing merchandise, and this sale was no different.  There was a great mix of new and second hand rods, together with a range of reels. The next specialist Boat Sale will take place in June, and the date will be announced shortly.  H&H Auction Rooms hold weekly general sales from their site at Borderway in addition to the specialist Boat Sales.
