Spring Into Action!
With Spring on the way, there was Hot Competition at H&H Auctions Garden Sale
Last Thursday, 3rd March, saw H&H Auctions, Carlisle had a bumper sale with over 50 people crowded into the Exhibition Hall at Borderway. With an interesting and eclectic selection of items on offer, from a Victorian potato planting machine to a decorative bench, there was something for every taste. New customers came from Lancaster, Hexham and the Scottish Borders and there was a real buzz in the atmosphere.
As well as garden troughs and ornaments, there was dressed stone for walling and building, but the most sought-after items were the decorative ones. A pair of contemporary statuesque lions made £300, a life size steel dog fetched £400, and a pair of Victorian cast iron urns made £450.
“It was great to see the auction so well attended and particularly good to see new faces,” commented Stephen Farthing, the Auctioneer at H&H Auction Rooms. “After all the grimness of Covid and winter, people are excited to get out and about again and make their gardens a place of beauty and relaxation. We are very pleased with the results of this sale and we will be holding another in May, so if you have anything suitable then dust it down and bring it over, we will happily provide free estimates and you may find you have a hidden treasure!”
As the warmer weather entices us all outdoors, you might like to attend their next Boat, Fishing Tackle and Equipment Sale which will be held on the 23rd of April. Their January sale was well attended and featured a Fletcher ski boat and a GP14 sailing boat, along with a wide range of fishing rods, reels and chandlery. They are still accepting entries, so if you feel your sea dog days are over, why not sell your boat and spend the money on something else – maybe on enhancing your garden!
